The University of the Philippines Mountaineers, Inc. (UPM), in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Diliman Institue of Biology, is commemorating its 40th year as an advocate of responsible mountaineering and environmental protection.

We are inviting everyone to our second national conference on mountaineering which will bring together professional and leisure hikers, local communities, conservation workers, students and academics, national and local government agencies, and other stakeholders to share information, knowledge and experiences.

When and where is AkyatCon 2.0?

Who may attend the AkyatCon 2.0?

AkyatCon 2.0 is open to everyone!

Is it all lectures?

No. Aside from the plenary sessions and breakout sesssions, we will also have star gazing, bird watching, and tree walk activities for a limited number of participants.

Can I attend more than one topic in one timeslot for the breakout session?

No. The three topics per timeslot in the breakout session is held simultaneously. So, you have to pick one topic per timeslot. Choose wisely!

Can we still divide our group into different breakout sessions?

Yes! You can choose different topics for the breakout sessions even if you registered as a group.


What should we bring?

You are required to bring one valid ID. We also encourage you to bring your own mess kit and bottle/cup since we have food booths inside.

Can we bring food?

You can bring food and eat during breaks outside the plenary hall and breakout session rooms.

How about alcohol?

Alcohol is prohibited at all times during the conference.

Can we camp?

No. Camping is not allowed inside the campus grounds. See next item for alternatives.

Is there an accommodation?

There are hostels and other similar accommodations in the UP campus. Send us an email at akyatcon@upmountaineers.org. We will send you the list of available accommodations.


What are the modes of payment?

We accept bank deposits to the UP Mountaineers BPI Account:

Why is there a fee for AkyatCon 2.0?

AkyatCon 2.0 will cover more topics than the previous conference. You now have options for the breakout sessions!

Is the registration fee for each topic?

No! The registration fee covers your 2-day conference which includes 7 plenary sessions and 7 out of 21 breakout sessions.

Can I transfer my slot?

No. You can’t transfer your slot. Once you pay the registration fee, you are reserved a slot for AkyatCon 2.0.

I signed up for the star gazing and bird watching, can I pay during the event?

Yes. But your slot will only be reserved once you pay the fees for each activity. Each activity is limited to 50 participants only.

Where can we send the names of the participants and the deposit slips?

Email us the names and the scanned copy of the deposit slips to akyatcon@upmountaineers.org.
